About The Wausau Chess Club
Welcome to the Wausau Chess Club! We have been actively meeting since we first formed in 2014. All players, beginner through master, young and old, are welcome. We have a dedicated core group of players with ratings ranging from approximately Class F to Class A (800-1800 elo). We provide tournament-size chess sets and chess clocks, but you are welcome (and encouraged) to bring your own. Club membership is free.
We occasionally host United States Chess Federation (USCF) rated tournaments during our regular meeting hours and on weekends, which are announced in advance. Participation in these tournaments is open to all, but does require USCF membership. You can join the USCF through their official website: new.uschess.org/join-us-chess
Free instruction for beginners is available at the club! Several of our members have experience in providing chess instruction to children and adults in both individual and group formats. We have previously hosted youth chess camps and facilitated school club meetings in the Wausau and D.C. Everest School Districts.
Club announcements will be posted on this site and our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/WausauChess Please also follow us on Facebook to ensure that you see notifications of upcoming events or urgent changes to our schedule. We hope to see you at the club!
